Barb Barbour

Director at Large (Mentorship/Bursary), GBS Construction Managers

Barb Barbour is a Project Coordinator with GBS Construction Managers Inc and a Director of Community with the Canadian Construction Women.

Barb started her construction career almost 20 years ago with an Entry Level trades training course in Millwork at BCIT. After completing an apprenticeship while working in high end custom residential millwork, she became a journeyman and went on to mentor other apprentices throughout her working career. She has also taught woodworking courses in Vancouver. 7 years ago Barb turned her sights on project management and switched gears to become a site supervisor with GBS Construction Managers; working her way from the field to the office where she now works on a number of large projects. As a project coordinator she has been involved with projects ranging from commercial tenant renovations to new building construction and enjoys the challenge of every new project.

Outside of work, Barb has been learning to sail, enjoys cycling and gardening.

Barb aims to use her experience in the construction world to help forge a community of women who can share their experiences with each other under the CCW umbrella.
