Dear CCW Members,

At our 2016 Annual General Meeting, on Tuesday February 23, we will be holding elections for our Board of Directors. Please see the Events Page for the details, registration is open.

If you are interested in running for a directorial position please email info@constructionwomen.org

Nominations for open positions will be taken from the floor, at the General Meeting.  However, we encourage you to contact us prior to the event.

The following women have been nominated for positions on the Board, please take a moment to read their short bios below:


President                 Nomination for current position:  Lindsey Nelson

As the incumbent President, it is with the years of CCW experience, her background in strategic planning, and energy for supporting others in the industry that leads her to this position.

In previous positions of Director of Communications and Director of Sponsorship, Lindsey brought a re-branding of CCW through our social, web and print media.  She also re-engineered our sponsorship offerings to bring more value to our CCW sponsors, and tie those efforts into our Membership and Events development.

Leadership is not only about the things that we do, but the way that we do them, and she hopes to bring a sense of guidance, focus, inspiration, and challenge to the CCW Presidency.  And, a sense of celebration to the Board and membership, as we look back at the achievements of 2015, and look forward to future success in the coming year.

 

Vice-President         Nomination for current position:  Shannon Mitchell

Shannon has been involved the construction industry by providing solutions to her customers’ waste management needs.  As part of the Executive Team at Pit Stop Portables Shannon has played an integral part in various areas of the business; Customer Service, Operations, Acquisitions and where she today in Sales and Marketing and in assisting Pit Stop in achieving their 10 years in business milestone!   

With a passion to help people; whether personally or professionally Shannon felt becoming more involved in the CCW would be a fantastic organization and fit for her to convey her passion and experience and contribute to the CCW in their mandate of  creating a stronger construction industry by inspiring and supporting women.

 

Treasurer                     Nomination:  Marie-Eve Clayton

Ms. Marie-Eve Clayton is a fully bilingual engineer with over 16 years of experience in the consulting industry. She holds an environmental engineering degree from Carleton University (Ottawa) and an MBA from HEC Montréal. Marie-Eve’s environmental engineering consulting experience extends to projects from Coast to Coast and internationally (France and Morocco). She has managed various projects associated with environmental site assessments, remediation, spill response, hazardous materials, environmental compliance & permitting, building design coordination, and the management of construction activities. She has also managed numerous acquisition/divestment environmental due diligence projects for real estate clients as well as for numerous downstream oil and gas clients. Her strengths lie in managing client portfolios and acting as a strategic advisor to key clients.

At Stantec, she manages a team of over 40 professionals and values one on one mentoring moments to provide custom growth opportunities for each team member.

 

Secretary                     Nomination for current position:  Vanessa Werden

Vanessa is the current CCW Secretary. Her overall goal is to assist CCW with its mission of increasing women’s representation in the industry.  She would love to do her part to continue to see the organization grow and provide quality mentorship, social and learning opportunities to women working in the construction industry.

Vanessa is a lawyer and practices construction litigation with SHK Law Corporation in Vancouver.  Her clients include architects, engineers, contractors, developers, trades and suppliers. She also volunteers as a supervising lawyer for a non-profit society that provides pro bono legal advice and representation to clients who would otherwise be unable to afford legal assistance.

 

Director of Programs       Nomination for current position:  Katherine Kirwan

Katherine has been a member of CCW since 2011, a committee member since 2013 and Acting Programs Director since September 2014.   Since joining the board she has organised numerous events with her team, contributing to the significant increase in CCW event attendance in the last couple of years. Katherine is a Virtual Design Construction Engineer for Canadian Turner Construction Company.

She actively promotes the Building Information Modeling industry, and regularly takes part in events such as Skills Canada and Green Bricks Green Collar Futures.

 

Director of Communications        Nomination:  Carrie Li

Carrie has been an active member of CCW for the past year in 2015. Her passion for desktop publishing and graphics has inspired her to become involved with the Communications Committee.

She is a Project Coordinator at Canadian Turner Construction Company. Since 2013, her role at Turner has given her the opportunity to develop project management and coordination skills that allows her to communication effectively amongst the project teams including clients, architects, designers, consultants and subcontractors.

Using these skills, she hopes to contribute to CCW by engaging the construction industry through various forms of communication.

 

Director of Membership Nomination for current position:  Kirsten Robertson

Kirsten is the current Director of Membership, working within a skilled team of other professional women in Construction; sharing a common goal of raising awareness for women of all levels in Construction. 

She is also a recruiter for Strive Recruitment, within the Construction field covering Western Canada.  She is also an affiliate member for various industry associations.

Kirsten can be found at most CCW events and would be happy to answer any questions you may have!

 

Director of Sponsorship          Nomination:  Renee Auer

Renée Auer is the Director of Membership & Sales at the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association.

For more than 13 years, she has worked tenaciously to increase GVHBA’s membership and introduce new events, programs and services of value to members.

 

 

 

 

Director of Community      Nomination for current position :  Barb Babour

Barb brings a background as a former tradesperson, as well as her current role as a Project Coordinator for GBS Construction Managers Inc.  Through the recent change from Director of Trades she is exploring new avenues where CCW members are provided opportunities to meaningfully connect with one another.

As the former Director of Trades, Barb has been able to review both the current program and provide a framework for the new direction of community building. She brings a high level of organization, strategic thinking, and inclusive insights to this position.

 

Director at Large        Nomination for current position:  Renée Auer

Renée Auer is the Director of Membership & Sales at the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association.

For more than 13 years, she has worked tenaciously to increase GVHBA’s membership and introduce new events, programs and services of value to members.

She would like to sit again as a Director-at-Large for Canadian Construction Women and looks forward to bringing her talents to the table and working towards a new and better CCW website that will meet all members and directors needs.

 


We also thank our Current Board of Directors and Committee Members  for their time and endless energy in supporting this organization.
